O.U.R. Education Co-op has scheduled two informational meetings regarding the Arkansas Tutoring Corps for March 10, 2022 at the O.U.R. Education Cooperative.

The Arkansas Department of Education and the Office of Education Renewal Zones announce the launch of the Arkansas Tutoring Corps to serve the academic needs of students across the state. Qualified applicants in the Arkansas Tutoring Corps include students in educator prep programs in institutions of higher education, retired educators, educators currently serving in the classroom, and community members. Tutoring applicants will be required to pass child maltreatment and background checks and will have completed several hours of training in literacy, math, building positive relationships with students and families, classroom/behavior management, and meeting the social and emotional needs of learners.
Our system will connect the bank of prepared candidates with schools and organizations seeking to utilize their acquired training skills to support the academic needs of the students they serve. Qualified tutors may also proactively offer their services to schools and organizations as needed to log the required number of tutoring hours per training module.
Qualified tutors are eligible to receive stipends totaling up to $3,000 in their first year, and $2,500 in subsequent years. To receive the full stipend, tutors must successfully complete the required instructional training and provide documentation that they have served the designated number of tutoring hours per module.

Congress has designated February 21--25 as National Public Schools week. At O.U.R. Education Co-op, we appreciate and are grateful for our 16 districts: Alpena, Bergman, Berryville, Cotter, Deer/Mt. Judea, Eureka Springs, Flippin, Green Forest, Harrison, Jasper, Lead Hill, Omaha, Ozark Mountain, Searcy County, Valley Springs and Yellville-Summit.
March is National Reading Month. Here is a March RISE Reading Challenge Calendar for parents to create a culture of reading in their homes. Using this calendar to guide daily reading will create habits that will last a lifetime and will help children become lifelong learners.

The O.U.R. Education Co-op had the privilege of having the Boone County Leadership Institute visit the co-op on 2/22/2022.

On Friday,, the O.U.R. Co-op superintendents held their monthly board meeting.
Updates related to Virtual Arkansas, behavior supports, and legislative updates were provided.
OUR Co-op superintendents receive training on financial software from personnel from APSRC.
O.U.R. Education Co-op specialists collaborate on ways to support co-op area schools.
OUR Curriculum Coordinators from multiple districts working in groups on topics such as: required assessments, data analysis, digital learning, COVID 19 impact on instruction and student learning.
O.U.R. Co-op superintendents hear updates and best practices related to Computer Science from Anthony Owen, State Director of Computer Science, updates on the 2022 O.U.R. Co-op Science Fair from Nathan Windel-O.U.R. Co-op Science Specialist, updates on the 2022 Math Carnival from Shane Flud-O.U.R. Co-op Math Specialist, and updates on the Mentoring Program from R and R Facilitator-Monica Springfield.
