What is Total Instructional Alignment?

When many people hear the word “alignment”, they often immediately think about making sure they are teaching those concepts, skills and objectives that they know they will be testing. Although this is to a degree accurate, there are actually three important aspects of alignment of to consider.

  • Alignment of the System
  • Alignment of the Curriculum and Assessments
  • Alignment of the Instructional Practices in the Classroom
Instructional alignment is the process of ensuring that what we teach, how we teach, and what we assess are congruent.

Shared Resources among O.U.R. Schools

O.U.R. COOP - Building Educational Bridges How are other schools implementing their Total Instructional Alignment training plans?
Each district, and buildings within a district, have unique characteristics and needs. Successful staff training programs are reflective of the individual circumstances within a school.

TIA Resource Tool is coming soon. Check out the demo!

Work is currently underway to develop a TIA Resource Tool. It will provide teachers with ready access to additional resources to assist in planning instruction based on the Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks. The initial focus of this project is Mathematics with work on English/Language Arts to come next year. Stay tuned for updates regarding the availability of the tool, possibly during the Fall of 2009.
